The cleaning industry has grown, now employing more than 11,000 people: staff trends

The largest domestic employer is still Magyar Posta Zrt, where the number of employees decreased by 260 from December 2023 to January 2024, with 23,439 postal workers in January.

Huge growth was seen at B N Reference Zrt, which overtook Tesco to move up to seventh place with 11,562 employees. Tesco has 128 fewer employees, but still has over 10,000.

The two biggest hirers of labour are closing ranks. At Prohuman, staff numbers have fallen by 139 to 6415, while at WHC they have risen by 278 to 6116.

Two manufacturing firms also saw movement above 100, with Samsung SDI adding 117 and Rosenberger adding 190.

HR Direkt, which burst onto the scene a few months ago as one of the largest firms, has now seen a reduction of 334 staff.

In the state/non-governmental sector, 213 fewer people are employed at Magyar Közút and 166 more at BKM Nonprofit.

The data on the number of employees reported by the organisations are taken from official state sources (NAV, KSH). Some large companies - mainly banks, but also MOL, for example - do not provide monthly headcount data, so we cannot report on changes. Also, the number of borrowers' loan stock is not included in the headcount data, but is reported by the lending companies.
