Another video game manufacturer announces job cuts

Electronic Arts is not the first tech company to decide to lay off workers, with an analysis showing that more than 160,000 jobs were lost in the sector last year.

Electronic Arts is laying off 5% of its workforce, Variety reports.The video game maker has 13,400 employees, according to its latest annual report, meaning the layoffs will affect about 670 jobs. The company's CEO Andrew Wilson said EA began notifying affected employees on Wednesday and that phase will be completed by the beginning of next quarter.



As previously reported, Sony is laying off nearly 1,000 workers from its PlayStation division. According to an analysis, 168,032 jobs were lost in the tech sector last year, with the tech giants continuing to cut jobs this year.
